The Gixxer is gone…sold this afternoon. That wraps up yet another project that I never started!!! The guy that bought it knew more about GSX-R’s than I could ever imagine knowing about anything. As it turns out, the bike was a hodge-podge of different bikes and we discovered a crack on the welds for the rear subframe.
Thanks to everyone for your offers and very interesting trade offers.

After going back and forth a thousand times in my mind, I decided to sell the GSX-R before I get in too deep (financially) with it. I put an ad on Craigslist earlier today. I’m asking $400 if anyone is interested, and will also consider an even trade for an older Jap bike with a title (in comparable poor condition I’m sure).
I’m so excited about the potential of getting it running, but I’ve been finding out that parts are extremely hard to find and when you d find them they’re really expensive. So, I’ll take whatever I get for it and try to get the CL200 a little further along.
I’m definately interested in a trade….just can’t steer myself away from new bike projects!

It is cold and have no motivation to work on bike plus wife has a long list of items for me to do. I have a 1982 GL500 this is my third bike in the last 2 years. I stripped it down to a cruiser so I could work on the bags, faring, and trunk. That never happened all I have done is ride.

I’ve been trying hard to become motivated to work on any of my bikes…but the motivation just ain’t there! Maybe if I had better heat in my garage or if I had the guys to take a ride in the freezing cold.
Anyone out there making any progress this winter?

Not Good!!!!

Chain hanging out....
Don’t beleive ‘em when they tell you, ” It was running when I got it!”, unless you see it yourself! I went to take off the valve cover to replace the gasket and found a broken exhaust cam chain which happens to drive both cams. looking down into the crankcase, I also noticed that the primary shaft Hy-Vo chain is off track with the end of the exhaust chain jammed in it. This repair will require splitting the crakcase and I’m not really looking forward to doing that as that requires the removal of all exterior assemblies from the crankcase…. it’s going to be a loooong winter!

Been watching the site and am glad to see the vintage enthusiasm. I have been into the old bikes since before they were vintage. My but the years do pass quickly. Here are some of the toys. The project is a 1967 Bonneville and should have no trouble hitting the pavement by spring. Have a group of friends here that have vintage stuff (mostly British) and we would be very interested in the 100 miler. If the logistics would work out we could have at least 8 bikes. Keep up the good work and I looking forward to being a part.

Just scored an old race bike that my friend

76 yz80c
had in his shed for years. Lots of vintage race goodies from days gone by. It has a radial head marked FC and an aluminum swingarm. Just wondering if anyone remembers some of these old parts? Going to restore it and need all the info I can get. Thanks!!!
