Im with you. I can't stand a vehicle which does not have a tach, even automatics. Instead of cursing your problem, embrace the fact that there is not a current solution; if you have any type of mechanical abilites, now is your chace to design an aftermarket solution, market and sell it, and get-rich-quick.

You're right. It's not really needed, it's just nice to have. I've always hated any cars that I had without tachs too. Just my mental thing I guess.

My Stratoliner has a tach but I have to tell you, I can't imagine looking other than for fun. I think you mentioned your Vulcan was a 500? I can tell you on a larger cruiser the tach is just not needed since they have so much torque. You end up developing a feel for your speed. Worse thing about the tank speedo is the reflection at night of the lights in your windshield when you have one.
