Well, I might as well throw in my pics, too. I ran across this bike in a craigslist ad, and it had been sitting in a barn for a while, but was in running condition when I bought it. As fate would have it, the bike was slow to reveal quite a few problems under the surface. Since I’ve had this bike (just over two years) I’ve replaced a bunch of little things, and also replaced the stator, rectifier, coils/wires, valve head, various gaskets, cables and signal lights. Aftermarket upgrades: Halogen headlight and lamp, bobbed rear fender, two different paint schemes, small fairing, fork brace and gaitors, custom rim tape, custom vinyl graphics and just added a Vance and Hines 4 into 1 with a Muzzy cannister that sounds wicked. I’ve still got a long way to go, as the matte paint job (rattle can BTW) will need freshened up over the winter months.
So here she is, my 1982 GS850g. The Punisher.

Thanks for looking. Now it’s off to terrorize the streets of Columbus.

Where did you get the tape for the headers? Looks great like a work of art! Love the mirror and the rim tape is bad ass! All the little details really add to the whole thing…
Scully, thanks for the kind words! I’ve always worked on a budget with my projects…. Rim tape and header wrap were all from the yellow auction site. The graphics were from a guy on Do the Ton dot com, where many of the cafe racer guys hang out. The rim tape was under 30 bucks, even with the custom lettering, and the header wrap was around 50 for 100′. Had to paint it black, and now it’s still attached to the stocker exhaust that’s laying on the floor of the garage. The new 4 into 1 header will get wrapped someday, but it’s in good enough shape at the moment to stay chrome. Thanks again for the positive words!
It was in pretty decent cosmetic shape, although it had experienced a massive oil leak, and the PO hadn't cleaned off any of the gunk and grime! It took lots of elbow grease and polishing and scrubbing before I could even begin go sort out the problems. Here's the earliest shot I have after her first bath. Not bad, but room to improve.

I didn’t even notice it was shaft drive….very nice.
Nice job on it. It looks great. What did it look like when you got it?
