I have an ’83 Yamaha Midnight Maxim that is my main ride. I also have a 1980 Honda 750 with a bored 900cc engine taking to 1035cc’s. It’s too fast for me, & I need to sell it. $1950 OBO, or trade for auto trans. 4X4. 724-738-0421 Dave Thompson
Only one so far
April 5th, 2010 by BT No comments »I brought the Honda home yesterday after storing it at my office all Winter. It took a crap momentarily just before turning onto Mentor Avenue, but it was just a bad connection with the fuse underneath the seat.
After a 34 mile ride home, the battery finally charged but the turn signals seem to have given up blinking over the Winter and now just go on solid. Anyone know what may be wrong?
So, one bike is home. The Kawasaki needs to be jump started (dead battery) and then I’ll figure out what’s up with the carbs. It will only idle with the choke on…even after a few loops around the block.
Riding today?
April 1st, 2010 by BT No comments »Did anyone get any riding in today? I took the CL200 out for a couple miles but didn’t have my helmut with me, so I didn’t stray too far.
First ride 2010
March 10th, 2010 by BT No comments »Well, I keep the bikes at my office during the winter now, and since I had a day when I didn’t have to rush off to pick up the kids from daycare, I thought I’d get the bikes started.
I’ve been meaning to put Sta-bil in the tanks since October…oops. I’ve been meaning to start them both since October….oops. The 2008 Kawasaki will not run at all without the chok in half position (unless the throttle is applied) and the battery won’t charge at all. I figure I’ll check the water levels this week and probably pull the floats off to see if the idle jets are gummed up.
The CL200 was a pleasant surprise. The battery was dead…no surprise there. I reattached the fuel lines, kicked it about ten times and it was running beautifully. There’s something to be said for a 36 year old bike that’s less finicky than a two year old bike.
Anyway, I rode around a little in the industrial park and called it a day.
First nice day of the year…..
March 9th, 2010 by BT No comments »….and out came the poser douches on their $20K Harleys. Early morning, still 36 degrees according to my dashboard, and there they were in full pose, trying so hard to pretend like they weren’t going numb from the cold.
But to their credit, they did get their bikes out, whereas most HDDBs wouldn’t dream of getting a little water on their babies.
A toast to them and everyone else for a fun upcoming season.

Gixxer is gone
January 30th, 2010 by BT No comments »The Gixxer is gone…sold this afternoon. That wraps up yet another project that I never started!!! The guy that bought it knew more about GSX-R’s than I could ever imagine knowing about anything. As it turns out, the bike was a hodge-podge of different bikes and we discovered a crack on the welds for the rear subframe.
Thanks to everyone for your offers and very interesting trade offers.
GSX-R is for sale
January 28th, 2010 by BT 2 comments »After going back and forth a thousand times in my mind, I decided to sell the GSX-R before I get in too deep (financially) with it. I put an ad on Craigslist earlier today. I’m asking $400 if anyone is interested, and will also consider an even trade for an older Jap bike with a title (in comparable poor condition I’m sure).
I’m so excited about the potential of getting it running, but I’ve been finding out that parts are extremely hard to find and when you d find them they’re really expensive. So, I’ll take whatever I get for it and try to get the CL200 a little further along.
I’m definately interested in a trade….just can’t steer myself away from new bike projects!

January 20th, 2010 by stanman44012 1 comment »It is cold and have no motivation to work on bike plus wife has a long list of items for me to do. I have a 1982 GL500 this is my third bike in the last 2 years. I stripped it down to a cruiser so I could work on the bags, faring, and trunk. That never happened all I have done is ride.
This time of year sucks
January 4th, 2010 by BT 2 comments »I’ve been trying hard to become motivated to work on any of my bikes…but the motivation just ain’t there! Maybe if I had better heat in my garage or if I had the guys to take a ride in the freezing cold.
Anyone out there making any progress this winter?
